After a pleasant driving in the marvellous hilly landscape of Umbria
and Tuscany we'll reach Florence, regional capital of this memorable
region.
The city lies on both the banks of the Arno river, the larger and
busiest section lies on the right bank, and spreads out the base
of the hills of Fiesole. Despite the historical centre is very limited
we highly recommend you to hire one of our informative and expert
local guides, in fact the chauffeured car and a personal tour guide
allow to see more sights that the visitor would ever imagine
You'll begin your visit starting from its most prestigious and important
monument: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, situated in the
religious center of the city by facing the elegant Baptistery revested
in white marble from Carrara and the green one from Prato. This
monument is one of the most typical examples of Romanesque architecture
in Tuscany, it was built
over the remains of an Early Christian Basilica in the 11th Century.
Youll then spend time before lunch walking towards the Piazza
della Signoria, this is the center of Florentine politics and home
to a captivating outdoor sculpture gallery. Shopping, architecture
and history collide in your mind as you stroll over the Ponte Vecchio
known as the most famous bridge in the world and the most ancient
in the city.
The day culminates at the Uffizi Gallery, and if you decide to hire
one of our Lecture-Guides will skip the line at the entrance in
order to concentrate your attention on selected masterpieces of
Giotto, Botticelli, Raphael, Da Vinci and Michelangelo or otherwise
you can choose to end your tour at the Boboli Gardens with an opportunity
to wander among the cyprus trees and gaze at spectacular Florentine
vistas.
Piazzale Michelangelo will be our final stop to admire the most
breathtaking and unforgettable panoramic view of Florence.
