Car pick-up will be from the hotel in Rome, followed by a transfer
to Siena, the renown hypnotic hill town in Tuscany. This city is steeped
in history and culture as illustrated by its lovely
monuments, churches and palazzos.
Siena probably had its origins as a Roman military colony.
One of the many major attractions is the Piazza del Campo. This is
where the great horserace, the Palio, has been held for hundreds of
years since Medieval time. On the day of the Palio, the spirit of
this noble city seems to reawaken in a joyous feast of colors and
an uncontainable burst of enthusiasm.
Your tour-manager will show you how to reach one of the most charming
domes in town. It was built in the Romanic-Gothic style between the
12th and 13th centuries.
After an enjoyable stroll along narrow streets in this enchanting
Medieval site, we'll then drive straight to San Gimignano. This is
a high-rise hamlet of the Dark Ages with more than a dozen stone towers
rising up to the hilly horizon. Upon arrival at this citadel, and
once you walk through its ancient gates, you will suddenly imagine
what life was like many centuries ago.
Inside the town walls, everything has been perfectly preserved according
to its Medieval style.
Exceptions are the marvelous hotels that have been restored with the
addition of modern comforts and conveniences to meet the needs of
the upscale and demanding clientele.
What makes this experience here even more fantastic is the outstanding
cuisine of the area. Local restaurants serve delicious Tuscan cuisine
combined with excellent Chianti wines.
All the tours can be modified and adapted to every demand! |
